During the 15th ARC conference, many city tours will be organized for the participants in and around Dhaka Megacity (capital of Bangladesh) and surrounding areas to familiarize themselves with local history, culture, food, heritage, Geology & Natural beauties of this riverine country. World IAEG has approved “Bangladesh National Group’s” proposal to organize two (2) post- conference “Field Excursions” to visit the sites of geo-engineering wonders (mega projects of Bangladesh) of the world (“Padma Bridge en route to UN World Heritage site Sunderbans” & “Bangabandhu Tunnel” en route to world’s largest sea beach Cox’s Bazar) for the participants to share & exchange scientific & engineering knowledge to attain sustainability in this region of Asia-Pacific. Add some descriptions from Wikipedia with photos of Dhaka city, river, and others.
Sundarbans is a mangrove area in the delta formed by the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna Rivers in the Bay of Bengal. Spread across parts of India and Bangladesh, this forest is the largest mangrove forest in the world.
Cox’s Bazar is a town on the southeast coast of Bangladesh. It’s known for its very long, sandy beachfront, stretching from Sea Beach in the north to Kolatoli Beach in the south. Aggameda Khyang monastery is home to bronze statues and centuries-old Buddhist manuscripts. South of town, the tropical rainforest of Himchari National Park has waterfalls and many birds. North, sea turtles breed on nearby Sonadia Island.
